Social
In addition to weekly meetings, GFAS encourages and helps to organize several social events.
- A monthly potluck in the home of a member, usually on the last Saturday of each month.
- An informal gathering in a gay bar after the in-person meeting. In that setting, conversations can continue and friendships develop.
- Pre-meeting dinners at Capitol Hill restaurants before in-person meetings.
- A Queer Film group meeting every other Tuesday via Zoom provides a venue for discussing a film or TV series and is an opportunity to make friends and get to know each other better.
- In June, the group participates in several Pride events—Pride in the Park (a family-oriented day in Volunteer Park), the celebration on Broadway and marching in the Pride Parade.
